I’m a three-legged rescue dog named Ada who’s living the country life here in northcentral PA. My name is short for Americans with Disabilities Act. I was adopted from the vet’s office after I was abandoned by some guy who works in the natural gas industry. So the story goes: I was brought to PA from TX and left here when he went back to TX. After I became a stray and was hit in the road, someone dropped me off at the vet.
The vet saved me by amputating one of my front legs. A month later, I was adopted by my new master and he gave me my name. He lets me blog, but moans about using too much bandwidth, whatever that is.
This is the blog of my life and the ongoings here in the country…
I used to blog only about unconventional shale gas development and hydraulic fracturing (“fracking”), but now I also blog about what it means to be a critical citizen. I ask more questions than I give answers… and I bark a lot about power, literacy, and the environment. If you’re wondering what those things have to do with each other, then start reading!

You are a anomaly of a dog, an inspiration to us all! The word pedigree does not do you justice. I’m glad you were “saved”, but rather I’m inclined you di a lot more saving that was done unto you.

Dear ADA
My name is Tosca I am a 10 year old German short hair pointer, brought up in the Karoo South Africa we have wonderful seasonal river streams and when the dry periods hit us, which can be for long periods, we rely on clean water-well water, all the other family members on our farm, some 2000 in total, also rely on this water. We hear that THEY want to drill for gas on our farm and we are all worried what that could mean to our place we love so dearly. I’ll wait to hear what else you may stumble across, please keep in touch so that we can learn from your experiences

I’m told we live on top of Marcellus Shale here in WV, and I don’t see any problem. Oh, wait, how’d that man get in here? My name is Mulligan and I’m a Shepherd/Rottie mix. I’ve happily lived my 9 years in the beautiful Catskills. My mom, dad and their friends are working hard to try and stop the greedy gas companies from ruining New York, but they won’t stop there. The work being done in NY is being done for every dog and their family who’s safety is threatened by the evil gas companies and their fracking ways. No one should have to live with flammable water, dying ecosystems, air pollution, noise pollution, water pollution and water shortages.

Hi Ada, and others — My heart goes out to you! I’m glad I left this earthly life in 1993 (age 12 or 13). I’d hate to be around now to experience this terrible development threatening devastation to my fellow creatures, all dogs, my human and other companions, and this beautiful and up ’til now wonderfully livable area of our country and world in central upstate NY.. Everything is at your mercy. Can you PLEASE manage to (help us humans) stop this juggernaut?

Where is Ada Mae?
Why is Ada Mae so mysterious? I would like to know a tiny bit about the dog’s writer/computer typist except the location is Pennsylvania. There are lots of things happening Alberta since it is the location of the oil tar sands (in the north).
However in the mean time, glad you enjoyed my Rocky Mountains photos in my blog.

Ada! I have an Ada the Dog! She is not you though, she is a Weimaraner. She is not named after ADA, she’s named Ada because it means noble and happy, and that’s what she is. (I think that might be what you are too). Also, her middle name is “Ruff N Tuff” not Mae like you. I think that both Ada the Dogs are very lovely! Sometimes I write about Ada the Dog on my blog (like today).
