Governor Cuomo: Not as bright as a 3-legged dog. Some lessons have to be learned the hard way, I know. New York State, defying all common sense, has recommended that fracking commence in Upstate New York. There is neither logic nor science to defend this decision.
The only question that needs to be asked is, “Is this new fracking safe?” The only answer that you will find if you are honestly looking past all the human rhetoric is, “No, this is not safe.”
True recognition of that very fact has been given forth as evidence by the NYS DEC (like PA’s DEP). How, you ask? The report that recommends fracking also recommends that it not be done in NYC or Syracuse watersheds. Human logic is funny, isn’t it? If it’s so safe, then why the need to protect these two cities downstream?
Answer me that question. The only answer is, “Well… because it’s actually not safe.” If we want to heckle, like all good dogs do from time to time, then I’d propose that “safe” exists on a sliding scale… there are probabilities. The probability of compromising NYC or Syracuse water is too high not to protect these cities.
And, as usual, who gives a frack about the hicks and the tree-huggin hippies…
If you happen to care, then call Cuomo. Let him know you disapprove. His phone number is 518.474.8390 or 212.681.4580. You can also send him an email. Read about the rally in Albany THIS THURSDAY, and plan to attend!
