musings on mothers

It’s Mother’s Day, but I don’t have a mother to honor. There are so many dogs like me out there who have no clue who their mothers are or where they are. I am so fortunate to know my grandma, tho, and I hope that if you are missing your momma, you also have someone who has stepped into the mother role for you.

My grandma is an amazing woman. Lately, she’s been put through the ringer, but she never hides her head down a hole. Instead, she keeps her head up high and acts with integrity. Here’s to mothers, grandmothers, and maternal surrogates! They teach us how to get through the tough times in life, and they give us the inspiration to keep on keeping on when desperation is at the door.

So, this is my tribute to my grandma. Whatever your trial or your tribulation (I hope it’s not as bad as mine), don’t bury your head in a hole– learn a lesson from my grandma and face it head on, no matter how much you want to crawl into a hole!
